On Thursday 3 May 2018 voters will go to the polls in local elections across England.
In the local area candidates will be selected to represent the newly-created Wanstead Village and Wanstead Park wards on Redbridge Council.
Wanstead Ward News has been meeting some of the candidates.
Steve Wilks is standing for the Conservative Party in Wanstead Village.
He says:
“I have lived in Wanstead for over four years, having grown up in nearby Walthamstow. I am a qualified accountant of over 15 years working in the projects arena looking at regulatory control. I am a firm believer that residents should work together to improve the local community. I have been an active campaigner on local issues such as the reinstatement of the garden green waste scheme in Wanstead. In the community I am the Chairman of the Safer Neighbourhoods Ward Panel where I liaise with the local PCSOs in order to reduce crime. I am also a Director Trustee on Redbridge Vision and Culture, which oversees the leisure offer in the borough.”
