On Saturday 12 May 2018 Wanstead will take part in the Great Plastic Pick Up.
The event is part of the national campaign by Keep Britain Tidy and The Daily Mail which encourages communities, schools, families and individuals to come together to clear rubbish from streets, beaches and beauty spots.
The Wanstead Clean Up Our Neighbourhood team already meets bi-monthly to collect litter but the target for the forthcoming event will be specifically plastic.
Volunteers are asked to meet at the water fountain on George Green at 10.00 to split into teams to remove some of the litter accumulating in the streets, hedgerows and green spaces in Wanstead.
“I’m really pleased we are combining our regular litter picking efforts with the Great Plastic Pick Up this month,” said Dan Slipper, Coordinator of the Wanstead Clean Up Our Neighbourhood community group.
“Everyone is welcome so please can I encourage as many people as possible to come and help out.”
